November 23 - Saving Time

Continue editing Psalm 41 (the next 10 pages) before vaulting over the Bencia Bridge to Diablo for dictation, solfege, and board harmony from Shelly Yen, Allison Lee, and Michael Sharp, finishing up the engaging student compositions of round four that have come in thus far.

Beyond this, to

Walnut Creek, picking up a 1/2 terrabyte external hard drive, for a second back-up and additional video storage, anticipating tomorrow's trip. Lunch and paper grading at La Fogata,

followed by embeds of Samuel Barber YouTube videos at markalburgermusichistory.blogspot.com, then the evening class from Jester Hairston and Louis Armstrong (both b. 1901) to Muddy Waters and Benjamin Britten (ditto 1913).

Home to transfer documents, movies, music, and pictures to the new storage unite (which takes hours) and to respond to a plethora of positive comments from Owen Golden on YouTube (which takes minutes), somehow finishing up For My Brother For My Brother videos with

XIII. Sleepytime Burgers.

November 22 - Beauty Everywhere

Begin editing Psalm 41 (the first 10 pages) and get the hard-working Phillip George in gear to write the Oakland East Bay Semi-Symphony performance of last night for Commuter Times (which won't run until two Thursdays from now), but is immediately available at 21st-centurymusic.blogspot.com and eventually at 21st-centurymusic.com.

November 18 - Limitless

Third page of Psalm 40 "I Waited Patiently" as the splendorous sky awaits, cruising amongst

the Lagoons down to DVC to bestow Quiz 14 and Final (but not the Final Exam, of course, which is in c. a month), with excerpts from Philip Glass and Sting -- a definite run for the money.... Then running for the money through

November 16 - Deja Viewed

Begin editing Psalm 40 "I Waited Patiently" and do some 21st-Century Music work before blasting off on the Diabloway for the last dictation / board-harmony of the semester with the Theoreticians: Sting's King of Pain (one of my theme songs). Perhaps the last

Bar paper grading for awhile, given the abolition of booths in the bar (not as congenial for an old guy in relax mode) returning for more

Music History merriment, way behind, as we only cover through Harry Partch and Jester Hairston (both b. 1901), yet plunge ahead towards

parts known and potentially unknown. Out with Doug and Melanie thereafter, and home for whatever the next video is.

November 15 - Calm Amidst the Sturm und Drang

Finish editing Psalm 39b (four pages total), take care of part of the financial arrangements for the Job revival, and bestow upon the Theoreticians a double dictation of Philip Glass's Satyagraha and Akhnaten, plus some orchestrational riffs. Lunch run and coffee with Doug, lingering to edit all four pages of Psalm 39c in the lab, yet record all three instrumental tango renditions of Orlando di Lasso with the Garbage Band, rather than Tritone Ensemble, tooling reverb at an excessive 75 and adding "Capital Orchestra Kit A-C."

November 11 - Diablos and Musica

Finish editing part one of Psalm 39 (four pages total) and provisionally do a Garbage Band recording before sallying forth to bestow Quiz 13 upon the Theoreticians, with excerpts drawn from Philip Glass, Roger Waters, and John Williams.

Make the jump to

Marin, paper-grading at Celia's and post-box greetings thereafter, arriving back in Fairfield a bit early

(so cool the heels at Blue Frog and actually catch-up totally with the Theory evaluations) for the Missouri Street Theatre's Sam Shepard True West callbacks, and it's a hotbed of activity, with

Harriet holding forth. Am relieved to see they have a competent Saul in the lineup, and hope for the best that I am not called upon, though will answer if Harriet and I are both asked to serve. Home eventually (the Mothers are dismissed relatively early) to do studio/movie video of
