November 26 - Reunions

Up at the crack of midday (hard to tell in this weather),

lunching at the

cafe (what would the trip be without a Philadelphia cheesesteak?),

stopping at the store,

back to the residence briefly with

Joe Leo,

then over Route 1 and down the Blue Route to

Baltimore

Pike,

Swarthmore

and

Morton Avenues, looking over old

Chambers

Memorial

Presbyterian

Church

(including

the

Sanctuary

and

Narthex's

views

all

around;

upstairs Kindergarten,

Youth Room, and

Nursery;

downstairs Primary,

Choir,

McCrone

Hall,

and

Kitchen; and midlevel

Office

and

Pastor's

Study / Fellowship Room)

and

George's

new

studio,

repleat

with

familiar

imagery.

A quest

for a

haircut at

the old place in Collingdale proves

futile, but more nostalgic luck is had in obtaining a cream-filled Dunkin Donut, passing

Anna's Steaks and Hoagies,

and

strolling

the

old

North

Lehigh

Circle

neighborhood

including --

the

storied

homestead,

all

the

neighbors,

the

Park,

and

Little Crum Creek.

Rendezvous'ing with George, Bette, and Ann -- we take in Lang

Music

Building

and

much

of

the

rest of

Swarthmore College,

head back for dinner (Italian sausage, chicken cordon bleu),

then back out again for what turns out to be a second repast at

Lamb Tavern as part of the

Springfield High School Class of '75

35th reunion.

with attendees including

Janice Devine,

Jack Dibeler,

Brian Gibson,

Owen Goldin,

Susan Hauslein-Ware,

Steven Kirschner,

Cindy Laub Cohen,

Dennis LeVasseur,

Lynn Schmidt-Buchholz,

Maggie Sullivan,

Debbie Wei, and many other familiar, friendly folks -- wishing many more classmates had been able to attend, and saddened to note the passing of John Bloodwell, Diane Farrell (stunned, in this case, as this was new information a moi), and others.

Home-away-from-home

thereafter.
