September 14 - All the Enigmas
Page 5 of Psalm 26 and a whole classworth of Theory student compositions -- thereafter lingering with Doug (holding potent WD-40, with which he will attempt to clean a feisty lock) and Joyce (setting up for her jazz vocal class, launching forth into the brave new world of a newly-designed Macbook that requires a new adapter for a PowerPoint presentation). Lunch at Elephant Bar, catching up with Music Literature quizzes, then returning for said class's evening session, with works from Guiraut de Bornelh (1140-1220) to Thomas of Celano's (c. 1210-1270) - Dies Irae, skipping ahead a bit to the Italian Trotto of c. 1300 and Guillaume de Machaut's Messe de Nostre Dame: I. Kyrie, with pieces from Nigeria, Ghana, Java, and Bolivia along the way. Also play the incredible versions of Walter von der Vogelweide's (gotta love that name) Palastinalied from
A Medieval Hanover Faire
